Billionaire Binod Chaudhary’s greed puts endangered wildlife into risk: his hotel kills rhino

Recently there was a very good news coming from Nepal that it had successfully celebrated zero poaching year in 2014 and 2015. But now, this couldn’t last long. Two bad news came from Chitwan, the home of one horned Asian rhino. First news was, in August 10, one rhino was found dead near a hotel. And second news was, another rhino was found injured with six bullets in its body.

According to the local media, the rhino found dead near hotel died due to the electric shock. The hotel called Meghauli Serai MEGHAULI SERAI.http://www.tajsafaris.com/our_lodges/meghauli_serai/default.php. The hotel is new and construction work is going on, the workers left the electric wire open outside and as the rhino was coming around grazing caught into the current and died.

MEGHAULI SERAI is run by only billionaire of Nepal Binod Chaudhary in partnership with India’s well known Taj Group. So folks, if you ever think about visiting Chitwan National park, DON’T stay in Meghauli Serai hotel and any other hotel which are inside the national park because these hotels have been killing wildlife in the name of tourism and development. This incident is not lone, this kind of incident keeps happening due to extreme negligence of the tourist hotels. These hotels are opened illegally by bribing local authorities and politicians. The rich and powerful people like Binod Chaudhary get planning permission to build mega structures inside national park which always puts wildlife into risk.

If you are going to Chitwan and wildlife, stay in nice hotels outside national park. Rhinos and other animals usually come around outside of national park and you will surely see them them wherever in Sauraha you stay. Tigers are known shy animals, hard to see anyway, even if you stay inside killer hotels inside national park.

There is no equipment to treat the injured animal

In different incident this male rhino was targeted by the poachers and shot six times. You can see in the picture below the vets treating rhino.

This male rhino was shot by poachers in Rauthat, and now being brought to Chitwan for treatment.

The doctors treating the rhino say they don’t have equipment to remove bullets from the body of animal and neither have X-ray machine to see the wound. They are just giving animal basic treatment due to lack of equipment.

Heart Warming – for the love of wildlife: According to Chitwan Post the local community and the vets have been treating the rhino “just like their kids” despite the fact that around 12 people are killed every year by the wild animals in national park surrounding villages. The community forest ranger is looking after the injured rhino, he is feeding him apple, banana and cabbage by hand into his mouth. This shows how much passionate the people and local community are on conservation.

But on the other hand we have Nepal government and greedy billionaire like Chaudhary who destroy forest and kill animals to earn money. If you look down, I had recently published how Nepal government illegally gifted core central part of Chitwan national park to accommodate the Hindu extremist ringleader, ones known for wildlife poaching. So in Nepal, the wildlife conservation is a war fought by local community against the government and government sponsored killers.

Sadly the wildlife and national parks in Nepal remains in constant threat. The tourists around the world can choose wisely where to stay, if only they didn’t stay in the illegal hotels inside national parks, they would help a lot in conservation. There are plenty luxury hotels in Sauraha, stay there-help wildlife 🙂
